As sure as the seasons change, so do makeup trends. This Fall’s hottest looks are decidedly autumnal, as rich in color as the changing leaves, taking cues everywhere from the 90s to your morning coffee and even vampires. Here is a look at our top picks for the makeup trends to try this season.

Latte Makeup

Grab a hot mug of Pumpkin Spice for some inspiration! The latte makeup trend is having a moment on TikTok and aligns perfectly with Fall’s traditional hues. This warm, monochromatic look features creamy shades of brown, from caramel to chocolate to espresso, on the eyes, lips, and cheeks. Mixing matte and shimmery shades can create depth for more impact. Plus, there is good news for those already loving the nude look. It will work seamlessly into the Winter months as well.

Bold Lips

Statement shades are a perennial Fall favorite. From the creamy browns of your 90s youth, to vampire-inspired blood red, anything goes as long as it pops. Burgundy and plum are also excellent choices, and there are many ways to personalize bold lips. Add a coat of gloss on top, and don’t skip the lip liner. Just remember to keep the rest of your face clean so the lips are the true star of the show.

Another buzzy TikTok term, cloud skin refers to a dewy, glowing, never dry complexion. Plump and non-cakey is what you are aiming for, which pairs perfectly with the aforementioned bold lip. Be sure to seal the soft, blurred effect with a hydrating setting mist. Those of us who are fans of the recent rise of “makeup as skincare” will be glad this trend isn’t disappearing anytime soon.

Barbie girls, rejoice! Summer’s biggest hit movie’s influence is lasting well into the Fall, with a strawberry flush on the cheeks and across the nose still feeling very of the moment. With Barbie vibes still going strong, you can rock the look with shades from blush to magenta, and everything in between.

Artistic Eyes

If there’s one place on the face to bring the drama this season, it’s the eyes. There’s a wide range of trends to try, but as long as your eyes look like works of art, you’re on the right track. As far as shadow colors go, everything works this Fall, from emerald to earth tones and pastels to neons. Two contrasting shimmer shades can also be applied to the eyelid to create a “halo” effect. As for eyeliner, thick is in. Dramatic cat eyes and “grunge liner” that looks a bit lived-in are both trending. Lastly, don’t be shy to embellish!
