Luxurious, unique, and handcrafted, every experience at the Cedar Creek Spa & Salon will relax your body and mind, and rejuvenate your spirit. The 18,000 square-foot, world-class spa is designed with enchanting hand-hewn timber ceilings, natural stone floors, stained-glass accents and antique-style chandeliers. The ambiance is warm and inviting with a grand, double staircase that leads to 11 treatment rooms, each featuring its own cozy fireplace.

Guests are enraptured by the beauty of the majestic atmosphere and soothing sensations of every amenity, including the indoor grotto pool and refreshing ice room for hot and cold therapy. After exploring the healing treatments, guests can complete their day with views of the roaring fireplace that serves a dramatic backdrop for the saunas, hot spa, and steam rooms leading out to private, open-air showers. The menu includes a wide selection of treatments ranging from organic facials and therapeutic massage to treatments tailored just for men and the youth.

Signature Treatments

The spa’s signature treatment is the 60-minute relaxation massage. “Each guest receives a full-body relaxation massage in a tranquil room with a fireplace and a heated table, accompanied by their choice of aromatherapy blend oils,” explains Refitt who paints out the picture perfectly. “Hot towels are used to remove excess oils from the guest’s feet and back at the end of their service, then each guest is draped with a warm robe to split into before enjoying further relaxation in Cedar Creek Spa’s beautiful co-ed grotto pool,” she says. After muscle knots are unwinded and tension is relieved, guests can feel soothe their muscles in the grotto equipped with full-body massage jets or indulge in the invigorating sensations of the ice room to awaken their senses.

Marketing

“Facebook and social media promotions invite new guests in, as well as the best method–word of mouth recommendations from our regular guests,” notes Reffitt. Before their stay, pre-arrival emails are sent to all guests outlining the spa’s services and offerings, encouraging them to book in advance. The spa is proud to have a high rate of return guests due to its exceptional services and hospitality. Both web and social media are also used as tools for marketing the resort and spa.

Training

New team members have 30, 60, and 90-day goals and assessments throughout the year to encourage them throughout their first year. The spa holds quarterly team meetings and vendor product training throughout the year to encourage collaboration and to allow all team members time to share best practices, treatment ideas, and new techniques. “Our primary goal is to empower our spa specialists to grow and learn during their career at Cedar Creek Spa. Regular staff members have one-year reviews and are encouraged to set goals for the future, as well as share one-on-one ideas and suggestions to keep our spa cutting-edge in the industry. We are proud to have built a team that excels in hospitality, teamwork, and unrivaled service,” says Reffitt. Barbara prides her staff in cultivating an environment of teamwork that has resulted in a positive and collaborative work environment. This is apparent in the level of service they provide.

Special Events and Promotions

Cedar Creek Spa is currently featuring seasonal products for treatments including a luscious pear and green apple massage and body polish and blueberry soy heel-to-toe deluxe pedicure. “Our teams are currently busy creating new ideas for the upcoming year! We approach each year with a new mindset and incorporate the latest spa and wellness techniques and products,” explains Reffitt. The Big Cedar Lodge, known as a Premier Wilderness Destination Resort, also hosts many local events to support the community.

Revenue and Retail

When guests check in at Big Cedar Lodge, their arrival packets feature a 10% spa retail discount voucher. Massage and body treatments compose 75% of the spa’s revenue, followed by facials at 8% and retail at 5%. Of the spa’s retail sales, approximately 60% comes from its facial lines.

Spa Director Spotlight

Barbara Reffitt moved to the Branson, Missouri area in summer of 2006 from Boulder, Colorado. She joined Big Cedar Lodge as the Spa Assistant Manager and was promoted to Spa Manager the next year. She enjoys attending conferences and learning all things spa & wellness, and how to provide the most outstanding services for our guests and associates.
