An interview with Victoria Roggio of Victoria Roggio Beauty
What are some of the emerging makeup trends we can expect to see?
Some of the trends that we are seeing currently is the no mascara look that focuses on the actual makeup and not the intensity of the lashes. Also, super high intensity blush and colorful mascara, think “the 80’s are back.”
What are your must-have tools?
Beauty Bender, and Rephr brushes are my go-to when it comes to performance and how incredibly they work with any texture of makeup.
What classic makeup looks never go out of style?
Au naturale makeup looks, think glowing skin and beautiful monochromatic tones for eyeshadows, lips, and blush. Winged liner and a bold red lip for “Old Hollywood Glam,” and smokey eyes are always timeless with perfectly executed glowing skin.
Where are the best places to discover new makeup trends?
Paris Fashion Week for more of an editorial inspiration, and of course TikTok, though I am not a huge fan of it.
What advice would you give makeup artists looking to rise to the top of the field?
Practice as much as you can, assist an established makeup artist who inspires you, and participate in test shoots. I think YouTube and online classes are such a great way to keep learning. There is always continuous education for beauty, which I love.
What are your clients most requested makeup looks?
A natural glowing look, a timeless beauty, or a smokey eye.
What are the best ways to learn makeup artistry?
Online courses, watching YouTube tutorials of world-famous makeup artists like Nikki Makeup, Danessa Myricks, Patrikta, Hungo Vango, Lisa Elridge, Ali Andrea Makeup, and Makeup by Mario. Practice on friends and family as much as you can, and follow your favorite makeup artists on all of their online platforms. I think makeup schools teach you the basics, but there is so much more to know and learn; it is a constantly evolving industry.
