The Beginning:

The Tea House Spa started as a traditional Japanese tea garden in the late 1940s by Anne Sunlight, providing a space to experience a traditionally eastern environment. Locally owned since 1984, it became a standout health retreat set amid a sprawling bamboo grove in downtown Santa Cruz.

Signature treatment:  

The Room One Experience is two and a half hours of total tranquility for two. After walking through the luscious garden entryway, couple are welcomed to a private room to begin side by side 70-minute personalized massages on plush heated beds.  

After the massages, guests enjoy a peaceful  extra 70 minutes in the heated private room, featuring a freshwater Onsen soaking bath, enclosed Rainfall Steam Room Shower, and view of the 70-year-old bamboo garden. 

Key Features: 

Four private spa rooms, three of which have cedar-lined saunas, feature cool natural slate, redwood decks, hot tub with jets, showers, and shoji windows that open out to the garden. The sky-lit massage rooms are inviting and warm.
