Spa Of The Month

Spa Edgewood

Relax in Lakefront Luxury

Situated right at the state line of California and Nevada, you will find the serene Spa Edgewood on the shores of Lake Tahoe. A Forbes Travel Guide Four Star spa which opened in May 2017, it is part of the upscale Edgewood Tahoe resort.

The spa’s credo is “breathe, feel, relax, heal,” and, in a setting as tranquil as this, it is nearly impossible not to. New additions to Spa Edgewood’s already acclaimed menu of treatments are exclusive gemstone rituals. As the only spa in the region to provide these specialized, holistic massages, they utilize locally sourced stones, such as smoky quartz, to deepen the relationship between body and earth, leaving you feeling enlightened and wonderfully alive.

To complement the new offerings, as well as old favorites, Spa Edgewood features eight treatment rooms, a coed Sanctuary Lounge and hot tub, men’s and women’s steam rooms, and infused water, hot tea, and light bites.

“This is where you come to get your body and mind back on speaking terms,” notes Director of Spa Ashley Salberg. Here, she shares how the team at Spa Edgewood sets the scene for a truly harmonious experience.

Signature Treatment

The Earth Connection Ritual is Spa Edgewood’s 105-minute signature treatment. It starts with an invigorating dry brush exfoliation, while guests inhale the fresh aromas of “Meditate,” an essential oil blend of sandalwood, frankincense, ginger root, clove, cardamom, and sweet orange. Next, guests experience a detoxifying foot scrub and hydrating foot treatment, followed by a full-body basalt stone massage. The ritual culminates with a stimulating peppermint and wild lime scalp treatment, designed to leave guests feeling grounded from head to toe.

“This treatment is inspired by the energy of smoky quartz, holding a powerful earth energy with healing properties that protects, grounds, and connects us with the earth,” details Salberg.

Training

At Spa Edgewood, spa vendors provide quarterly training sessions, either in person or via Zoom, so staff can stay up to date on the latest treatments and techniques. Sales goals are routinely set, and spa staff have annual reviews to gauge progress.

“Our vendors help a lot with incentivizing our team,” Salberg explains. “They have sales contests we implement, and staff receive free products when they attend vendor trainings.”

Revenue and Retail

“For our retail space, we rotate seasonal items, as well as search for what is new and exciting in the spa world,” says Salberg. “We also look to local vendors and browse the trends at fellow hotel and spa retail shops.” Spa Edgewood currently carries lines by Eminence, Natural Bisse, Aloha Collection, Aluminate Life, Coola, Naturopathica Holistic Health, Elizabeth W, Pure Inventions, and VitaJuwel.

Spa treatment demand is approximately 30 percent massage, 48 percent facials, and 22 percent body treatments. After each service, the spa’s estheticians review the products used and their benefits with the clients and make recommendations for home use. Most products used in the treatments are available for purchase on-site.\
