This month, we catch up with our new esty bestie,
Sofia Montero Rorrer, to see how she’s progressing.
Hi Sofia!
Have you picked up any new tricks or skills?
How’s it going out in the field? Hello! Things are going a little slow right now as I am still job searching. I’ve been focusing on perfecting my makeup application and techniques for my friend’s wedding.
Have you made any progress in your job search?
I have found a few locations I think would be a great fit. I’m currently in the process of updating my resume and I plan on sending out applications soon.
What are your next steps at the moment?
At the moment, I want to spend a little more time on my knowledge of makeup and application, and going more in-depth with learning different products.
Have you picked up any new tricks or skills?
I have started practicing more eyebrow and eyelash lamination, usually on my sister and family. I want to perfect those since there is a very big market for them today.
How are you keeping your esthetics learning going?
I study the textbooks I was given in school just to refresh my memory. I also bought different textbooks online for more specific areas of skincare, such as acne, ingredients, and more.
What are your favorite resources for fresh ideas?
Some of my favorite resources for fresh ideas are social media and workshops. From social media like TikTok, I learn different techniques from estheticians, as well as marketing strategies. From workshops I also learn different services that I wasn’t taught in school, such as brow mapping and lash extensions.
What are your goals for this month?
I have a few goals for this month. One, to perfect lash lifting, as it has been my favorite technique so far. Two, to focus more on my research of treatments for acne prone skin types. And lastly, to solidify the renovation plans for the camper my mom and I want to turn into a mobile spa room.
