Lifestyle tips to help stay hydrated

 

Staying hydrated is one of the key contributors not only for having beautiful clear skin, but to achieve optimum health and vitality.  You can stay hydrated in a number of ways, but the best way is to drink plenty of water and to make sure to have adequate minerals in your diet. Drinking water lubricates joints, helps with blood pressure regulation, and facilitates the elimination process by removing toxins from your system. Staying hydrated also helps digestion, which is a key factor in maintaining good metabolism and keeps organs functioning properly.

There are also great benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. If you consume a glass or two of water right when you wake up, it can increase energy, build immunity, cleanse the bowels, and improve the condition of hair, skin and nails. Having room temperature or warm water first thing in the morning on a daily basis improves overall health and wellbeing in so many ways.

Hydrating the whole body, especially during the warmer months, keeps us healthy and promotes glowing skin and shiny hair and nails. Making sure to also have enough electrolytes helps hydrate more effectively in order to maintain good blood equilibrium. This means maintaining a healthy diet, rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbohydrates, adds to how well you retain hydration in healthy cells. The cell moisture barrier is a great indicator of how well hydrated you are. If your skin looks dull and ashy, this could mean you are under hydrated and need more liquids in your diet. Nothing hydrates better than clean mineral water. It is great to drink plenty of water in the Spring and Summer months and know that sipping water, rather than gulping it all in one swoop, leads to the best form of hydration for body, blood, and skin needs.

Glowing radiant skin comes from an array of conditions in your lifestyle practices but staying hydrated is a key contributor to keeping everything in check.

When you can add a good regimen of diet, exercise, and healthy water consumption to your day to day life, this allows your body to function optimally. Make sure you are assimilating nutrients and eliminating waste and toxins effectively and efficiently.

Every morning, start your day with a small to medium sized cup of warm water with lemon. This is a great way to hydrate and get the pH balance of your system going with good elimination at the start of the day. Eliminating daily and cleansing your intestines is an essential part of staying healthy, and hydration plays a key role in that!

Let’s talk about a balanced diet during the warmer months. The seasons change in  local foods and harvest as Summer fruits like juicy plums, peaches, berries, and melons start to become available. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are great indicators of what you should be consuming. Especially in the Summertime, your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables needs to increase to maximize and strengthen your microbiome, or gut bacteria, to break down and digest foods optimally, giving you the nutrients and energy you need to thrive all Summer long. Staying hydrated facilitates these processes and the quality and diversity of fresh, raw foods and vegetables available in the warmer seasons is perfect for what your body needs.

Visiting local farms or farmers’ markets is a great way to find out what is regionally growing in your neck of the woods. What grows where you live every season should always be included in your diet to invigorate digestion and keep your gut healthy most effectively. Eating seasonally and in a balanced way can add to your overall ability to maintain good hydration.

One thing to remember is the importance of sipping water all day long. It may be a hindrance at first, but once you get used to sipping on water all day, you come to realize how much better your overall health, energy, and overall hydration becomes. Sipping on water as opposed to gulping it down in large quantities in one shot allows the water to permeate your system and adequately penetrate your cells. Sipping water and allowing it to stay in the mouth and then pass through the food pipe helps the alkaline saliva reach the stomach to neutralize acid levels. Chugging water directly causes water to run down the throat, missing out on carrying saliva to the stomach.

Another great way to tell if you are well hydrated is to check the color of your urine. If it is light and odorless, it means you you well hydrated. If it is darker in color, this could be a sign of dehydration. Making sure to live a balanced healthy lifestyle, where you are aware of your water intake and the food you eat is an essential part of making sure you stay healthy and hydrated. Everyone requires a certain amount of water for their body type, however, a good barometer of how much water you need per day is around one to two liters. Too much or too little is not ideal, so find the perfect amount by listening to your body and drinking enough to make you feel great all day long.

Daily hydration will give you radiant skin and an uplifted mood. Your whole system will function better, and your energy levels will stabilize. Diet and lifestyle is the best formula to stay healthy and hydrated all year long! Happy hydrating!
