What is your business called and where are you located?

My name is Lorena and I’m the owner of Acne Edit, which is located in Modesto, California.

Can you give a little information about your background as an esthetician?

I became a licensed master esthetician in the state of Washington in 2020 where I practiced for two years before making the move to Central California. I reopened my business early 2023 with a brand-new focus, acne. I rebranded into Acne Edit and have been mastering my craft ever since.

Self-care isn’t trendy, it’s vital. Prioritizing long term healing is more beneficial than quick fixes, especially when it comes to your skin.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I have always been a lover of all things beauty so when I left my previous career, I knew that I wanted to pursue my passion that I had been neglecting for so long. I just didn’t know exactly what that was. I enrolled in beauty school in hopes of becoming a lash artist, but within that process I fell in love with skin and its complexities. The rest is history.

What beauty philosophy do you stand by?

Self-care isn’t trendy, it’s vital. Prioritizing long term healing is more beneficial than quick fixes, especially when it comes to your skin. Self-care encompasses every part of your being, it’s more than just a facial.

What is your favorite treatment?

As an acne expert, I definitely have to say chemical peels. There is a peel for every condition and for every level of expertise. They are super transformative and I love being able to cocktail them to create the perfect formula for each individual client. Every transformation in my resume has included chemical peels in one way or another.

What brands do you use and why?

The main lines I use are Face Reality, Vivant, Lira Clinical, and BioSkin. I have been able to tailor these four lines together to treat every form and every grade of acne. The Lira Clinical and BioSkin back bars cover most of my treatment protocols. Face Reality and Vivant cover my retail shelves for customized homecare routines.

What is your secret to beautiful skin?

Consistency. You could have the perfect in-clinic services with the best tools and formulas on the market but if you aren’t consistent, you won’t see the results that you’re hoping for. Long term consistency will always beat short term intensity.

What are your favorite tools to use in the treatment room and why?

My Preston Extractor is my most prized possession. Noninflamed acne extractions are a breeze with this tool. It’s able to fully remove impurities without damaging the skin and it makes the extraction experience more comfortable compared to other methods.

What is your favorite part about working for your company?

My favorite part is seeing the changes in people. Not just the changes in their skin, but watching them blossom into the best versions of themselves. I see people become brighter, bolder, more confident. And that’s a gift that an esthetician will cherish forever.
