Event Ready Treatments

Preparing Clients for Special Occasions with Flawless Treatments

When it comes to special occasions like weddings, galas, and holiday parties, achieving flawless skin is essential. For estheticians, preparing clients for these events requires a strategic and personalized approach to skincare that ensures a radiant and polished look.

When approaching event-ready facials, hydration and exfoliation are key to hydrating the skin and making it more radiant, as well as removing dead skin to help makeup go on smoother. These facials should also aim to provide stress relief for your client, helping them feel more relaxed and confident before their events.

Whether you offer customized facials or a protocol specifically designed for special occasions, your clients will rely on you to deliver top-tier treatments. To help them achieve their best skin for any big day, I’ve compiled a list of event-ready treatments, including HydraFacial, Glass Skin Facial protocols, Dermaplaning, and other specialized solutions.

When prepping your client’s skin for an event, you can never go wrong with hydration.

Exfoliating Treatments

Microdermabrasion is a beautifully effective treatment for event-ready skin. This procedure involves the use of a specialized device that exfoliates the skin’s surface using fine crystals or a diamond-tipped wand. Microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells, promotes cell turnover, and helps improve skin texture and tone. It’s a great option for clients seeking a brighter complexion and smoother skin texture. The treatment usually begins with a thorough cleanse, followed by the microdermabrasion process to gently buff away dead skin.

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz, resulting in a smoother and brighter complexion. This treatment helps makeup apply more evenly and enhances the effectiveness of other skincare products. It begins with a thorough cleanse to remove any makeup or impurities, followed by the use of a sterile surgical blade to gently scrape the surface of the skin. This removes dead cells and vellus hair, making way for serums or masks that can now penetrate more effectively. Dermaplaning is particularly effective for achieving a flawless surface, especially when combined with other treatments for a comprehensive approach.

Both microdermabrasion and dermaplaning are excellent modalities to include inside of your event-ready protocols and even can be combined together (microdermabrasion first and dermaplaning second), along with brightening, lifting, and hydrating masks and products to further achieve those flawless results.

Of course, it is important to keep in mind those with more sensitive skin. Over exfoliation of the skin for individuals with certain skin conditions or sensitivities like active acne and severe rosacea should avoid dermaplaning, as the procedure could exacerbate these conditions or cause additional irritation.

Hydration All the Way

When prepping your client’s skin for an event, you can never go wrong with hydration. Hydrating face masks are essential for preparing skin for events, as they provide an extra boost of moisture and help to plump and smooth the complexion. Depending on the client’s skin type and needs, you can choose from masks that contain hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or aloe vera. These masks help to replenish the skin’s moisture levels, reduce dryness, and enhance the overall glow. Incorporating a hydrating mask into a pre-event treatment can leave the skin feeling refreshed and looking radiant.

For the combined effects of hydration and exfoliation, consider investing in a hydra facial machine. Renowned for its deep cleansing and hydrating benefits, the hydra facial is an excellent choice for event preparation. This treatment combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration into a single session. It employs a specialized handpiece with a spiralized, suction-like mechanism that gently exfoliates the skin, removes dead cells and impurities, and simultaneously infuses nourishing serums deep into the skin. The process combines vacuum extraction for clearing clogged pores and hydrating serums enriched with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to enhance skin texture, improve hydration, and deliver a radiant complexion.

Glass Skin is IN

The Glass Skin Facial, inspired by K-beauty trends, aims to create an ultra-smooth, translucent complexion. This facial focuses on intense hydration, brightening, and refining the skin’s texture. It starts with a double cleanse to thoroughly remove impurities, followed by an exfoliating enzyme or chemical peel to refine the skin’s surface. Be sure to keep in mind the timing of your client’s event when deciding on this step and opt for a pre-party peel that is gentle with no downtime and no flaking. A hydrating toner is then applied to balance the skin and prepare it for deeper treatment. The next step involves layering brightening serums, such as vitamin C, and hydrating masks with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin. A gentle facial massage is performed to enhance circulation, and an ultrasonic device can be used to boost serum penetration. The treatment finishes with a lightweight moisturizer and a luminous primer for a dewy finish. The Glass Skin Facial is ideal for clients seeking a high-shine, flawless appearance perfect for special events.

Beyond these signature treatments, customizing skincare protocols based on the client’s unique needs is crucial. For those with sensitive skin conditions like rosacea and acne, hydrating and calming the skin is the best approach to avoid further irritation. One of my secret weapons is always a calming jelly mask that reduces redness and soothes the skin. LED light therapy can also reduce redness in the skin, while targeting inflammation. Oxygen facials deliver oxygen to the skin for a plumping and rejuvenating effect that makes the skin look more youthful and vibrant.

To ensure clients look their best on the day of the event, provide them with pre-event skincare tips. It is best to schedule treatments 3-5 days before the event to allow the skin time to calm down, especially after extractions. If the client comes in 1 to 2 days prior to their event or the same day, avoid extractions if possible and focus on mega-hydration, calming, de-puffing lifting, and brightening the skin as much as possible. As always, trust in your intuition and keep in mind that less is more. You can also provide clients with a small kit of essential products for touch-ups, such as a hydrating mist or blotting papers. With careful planning and expert care, you can ensure your clients shine brightly on their special day.

By incorporating treatments like HydraFacial, Glass Skin Facial protocols, and dermaplaning, and tailoring additional services to address specific concerns, you can help your clients achieve the flawless, radiant skin they desire for their most important events.
