What essential oils are in demand now?

We aromatherapists like to believe that our very favorite essential oil is rising in popularity. But the reality is that there are seven basic essential oils that have been and will always be the most sought after essential oils by consumers. Based on 10 years worth of selling bulk essential oils and developing private label aromas for thousands of companies, I can safely say that the essential oils that have the greatest demand are lavender, tea tree, peppermint, orange, lemon, grapefruit and eucalyptus. The volume used of those seven essential oils far surpasses any of the others. I would love to say that my personal favorite aroma, cistus, is on the rise but the volume sold is dwarfed by the big seven.
